What causes windows notification area icons to gradually disappear while browsing?

I have to use ccleaner and restart explorer.exe to get them to reappear. No one seems to know why this happens. Please don't tell me about antimalware and antivirus programs I already have the best protection available. I just want to know what causes this I know it has to do with browsing the net. Is it a memory issue or what?
