How could i know that i am good engineer?

i think every moment that how to upgrade my knowledge,a lot of thinks are coming into my mind that is what will be my future life.i want to work many research project whatever it is example nanotechnology,solid state, communication,etc. but here in our country bangladesh research is out of way of life. every student just coming into school whatever the faculty is writing in the white board they copy it and when the cl is over ,they go to their house and memorize it.This is not engineering,an engineering is creative thinking which should be coming out of our mind.also some students are problem,few students are known about research but they can not share it, they think if i could p him. so what can i do????????
