Should the Mets release D. Sanchez and use the non-guaranteed money on a lefty reliever (Ohman, Beimel, Reyes)?

There not going to drop Sanchez. They won't do it for two reasons. One reason is that all those guys you mentioned up there, aren't any better then Sanchez. This would make it a stupid idea to drop him. Another reason is the same reason they took so long to drop Heilman. All of the Mets management thinks that Sanchez will eventually have a all-star season, and trying to give him the chance to produce. The moment Sanchez wins one game for the Mets (which won't be until half the season is over), Jerry Mauel will be praised for believing in him and giving him the opportunity. I guarantee they will try to get Sanchez off in a trade at the end of the season.
